After an extensive search process that drew more than 45 applicants and included input from staff, students, parents and Board of Education members, the Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Sherri Marquardt as the Principal of Pearson School, effective July 1.
Mrs. Marquardt currently works in the Ansonia Public Schools, where she has been recognized for her collaborative leadership style and her strong commitment to building positive and meaningful relationships with staff, families, and students. Her leadership reflects a consistent student-centered approach focused on engagement, connection, and continuous improvement. She has been described as someone who holds herself and others to high expectations. She was an excellent match for the profile that we developed based on our surveys and focus group discussions.
Mrs. Marquardt brings 17 years of experience as an upper elementary, classroom teacher and five years of administrative experience at both the building and district levels. Mrs. Marquardt earned her Bachelors degree from Bryant University and both her Master’s degree and Sixth-Year Advanced Certificate from the University of Bridgeport.
Mrs. Marquardt has been described as a collaborative leader who holds herself and others to high expectations. She was an excellent match for the profile that we developed, based on our surveys and focus group discussions. She is committed to ensuring a school community that is safe, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of all learners. Her leadership will be a strong asset to Pearson School and the Winchester community.
Mrs. Marquardt shared the following statement regarding her appointment: “I am deeply honored to have been selected as the next principal of Pearson School. I truly believe our greatest gift as educators is the partnership we build with families — it’s what allows us to educate the whole child and ensure every student feels genuinely known and deeply valued.
