Winchester Superintendent - Melony M. Brady-Shanley Letter to Families and Staff

Dear Families and Staff,

I am truly humbled to join the community of Winchester as your Superintendent of Schools. I have spent the last month getting to know the community, families, local leaders and staff. It has left me with a feeling of warmth, dedication and a vision of excellence. Through many conversations, it is increasingly clear to me that the community is looking forward to producing a strong educational system.

Over the coming weeks, the Board of Education and I will work to set goals, values, and initiatives that will drive the educational focus areas for the 2017-2018 school year. I look forward to community input and conversations to set a strong foundation for educational improvements.

As for me, I'm a mom, wife, and tireless educational advocate. I have two wonderful boys, Tyler 11 and Zachary 3, who keep us on our toes. Our family resides locally in Hartland. As a mom, I have always used my two children as my litmus test to ensure that I make sound educational decisions for all children. I will lean on your expertise as parents and educators to guide our decisions regarding outstanding educational practice.

I look forward to the upcoming start of the school year. Please keep your little ones reading and engaged in creative activities. These are the foundational years that will set your children's life-long love of investigation.
